He was on gentlease and now is on alimentum. We had to move to a similac product and dr said to try it because there was not anything very similar to the gentlease product. He was put on gentlease because he was very colicky when he was born and now is so much better. We hate to switch formulas but if it will work we have to. Did ok today but noticed more spitting up than usual. This is his first day on it. Just curious if this is a normal thing to be happening?

have they checked your baby for reflux? have they checked your baby for allergies? mine has both, and was unable to use the alimentum, we tried every formula out there and now use ellecare, which is the same as neocate its made by ross pediatrics and is a prescription formula that you have to get at a drug store.
I would see a gi specialist if you havent already cause something is going on with your little one.

HI, my son was coliky also. We had to switch his formula a few times. We tried Alimentum and it did not work for us (he got extremely backed up). But, he seemed to spit up with every formula we tried.. even more at the beginning when his system is just getting used to it, he may get better after a few days. Have you tried Nutramigin? The ped ended up putting our son on that, and it helped with the colic a bit.

Without familiarity with alimentum, I can only say that once we figured out our baby was lactose intolerant, she stopped spitting up completely when we switched to soy Similac. Either way, if there are no other issues, then more or less spitting up is really inconsequential; or so I was told.

My son is on this formula too. Our doctor said it would probably take a week or so for his body to get used to it. So your baby may just be getting rid of the old formula and adjusting to the Allamentum. Give it time, im sure it will get better.

After many different formulas (and very long nights) Good Start works best by far in my opinion. Used it for both my babies and they have never had a problem!
