Don't you think though that a cover version is a compliment to a songwriters skill and talent. I've often said that a well done cover can be just as good as an original song. Look at Johnny Cash's Depeche Mode cover (which I quite like)
As for the group, they are getting a bit tired. Basically, the boyband era is FINISHED- you simply don't get flocks of young girls screaming for their latest releases- they're probably listening to real bands like Muse. Quite simply they are tired of white-teeth and smiles and want bands who write their own songs.
I would also like to point out that Westlife have given much free time to charity, mostly in Ireland but in the Uk also, including many children's charities and also Comic Relief. You forget that they are incredibly busy and at the end of the say they need something out of it. They probably only got costs.
As for their cover versions, I like some and not others- the original My Love is much better. You can't blame the object, blame the creator, the record company. They need their bands to make money to keep the company going. A s long as records are produced it doesn't matter to the directors in their limousines what music is made.
PS Which charity album? I know they did Uptown Girl for Comic Relief.

because they are unoriginal, lazy and cannot be arsed to write their own songs, in a blatant attempt to cash in on other artists success by stealing their songs and do mediocre versions of them. all their songs sound the same as each other anyway and they are just boring to watch and have nothing that makes them stand out from all the other boyband acts

I didn't like them before, but now I want to go after them with a shotgun. The reason they do covers is because they've got all the talent of roadkill, but none of the charm.

Because as their popularity rapidly nosedives at an alarming rate.... they need to knock out songs that people have heard before... and it's much easier doing covers than originals...
Anyway lets face it, they'll not be around much longer!
