How about his favorite meal, complete with dessert and followed by his favorite movie of all time? If you sew, make him a really nice shirt.

Anything home made is great. Make it personal. Something to do with his hobbies or something he truly likes. If he like music... make him a CD of his fav tune & make a title book which explains why you picked each song. If he likes sports... make him a fleece knotted blanket with his fav team and card that says that you want to keep him warm even when your not the first thing on his mind. I think you get the idea.
