My husband and I just recieved a house as a gift from my father in-law. It needs alot of work!! The house is not in that bad of shape, but my father in-law is a garage sale adict. There is so much stuff in it. Our income is low. What is the best way to go about getting rid of this stuff. Wall to Wall STUFF!! My father in- law wants to profit from his STUFF. How do I go about getting a loan to fix this place up with our bad credit history and low income?

first, sell your in laws stuff in a garage sale, then with his help you can start by using all of your free assets first... elbow power, everything you can do yourself , or with your husband, children(if any) and friends, i would go that route first.. then see how much you have left and if it is in need of professional, expensive help, then i would prioritize that list.. windows, old ones usually need some caulking, floors, redo them yourself, not hard at all.. go to diy on your cable or satellite provider, you be surprised how much you can do yourself.. loans are permanent debt, and are never, ever really paid off.. think about it.. don't give the bank a promise you can't fulfill, and then they come and take YOUR house that was given to YOU!!!!

if you take one room at a time and finish clearing out and cleaning it , take all that is not wanted or needed and put aside for a sale. If you price it too much you wont sell it .Price it too sell it.. If you take your time and find things on sale you can spend little money to fix the House up.You Will have fun and will be happy when you are finished. And as you go along you will find other things on sale and in yard and garage sales also.. that you can use..

Before you sell everything, make sure that there is nothing you can use to help you fix up the home or improve your quality of living. Remember, a little can go a long way with remodeling. Clean, paint and organize!!! You don't have to rebuild to make it seem new to you......just make it different and too your taste. Take on only one project at a time so that you don't get overwhelmed and give up. I am doing my entire home one room at a time and on a budget. It pays to take your time.

(1)
Sell the Junk,,, If the house is structurally OK and the roof is in good order , paint is reasonably cheep and easy to apply use the money from the sale ( I presume the junk is now yours).
(2)
A nice front garden makes a house look good,, check out the local gardens and see whats growing in the area ( you may be able to get cuttings from some of your neighbours)

You need to have a very large sell. What doesnt sell have habitat come pick up. There are ways of making things look nice for very cheap. One room at a time paint, fix any damaged trim, replace carpet. Its amazing what a can of paint will do.

Craigslist the STUFF and speak to a credit union about a loan.
