this is a subjective question. 3 days ago a friend of mine took his own life. he was terminally ill. he had suffered with Lou Gehrig's disease for quite some time & it had gotten unbearable for him. his problem was not temporary. there is no cure for his disease. the only thing he had to look forward to was a ventilator, feeding tubes, and catheters. i do not find his actions cowardly, but justifiable. existing in that manner would be hell. so please, dont assume that all suicides are selfish, attention seeking basket-cases.

All the things, both good and bad, that happen in our lives are temporary. Especially when we are in the middle of the bad times we cannot imagine that they will ever end. That the bad times are really temporary. But they are. And, we often forget that God is there for us, to give us the strength we need to get through those tough times.

In 1977 my brother committed suicide. I was 23. He was 30. With all of the other strife I've endured in my 53 years that was the most awful time of my life. To lose a loved one is hard enough. To lose a loved one by his own hand is something you cannot imagine. The pain is off the scale!!!! Thought it's been almost 30 years, just thinking about it ... well, let's just say it never goes away.

Six years ago I had a major depressive episode and was very close to suicide myself. By the grace of God and the love of my family, I didn't follow through with my plans. And I am so very glad that I didn't!!! I would have missed out on so much life! My sons' weddings! Two wonderful daughters-in-law!!! Five (soon to be 6) wonderful grandchildren!!! Six more years of marriage to my wonderful husband!!! And on and on ....

Life is worth living. Depression is temporary. Help is out there. You just have to reach out a little bit. Someone will reach back. God bless!

Suicidal people are usually mentally ill. There are much better ways out of their pain than suicide... medical treatment. They can be cured and get back to living a good life. But when they reach this point of their illness they can't think clearly and don't believe anything will solve their problems other than death.

If there wasn't such stigma related to mental illnesses people would seek help before things got this serious. The stigma scares them away from seeking medical help for their problem. I strongly encourage everyone dealing with suicidal thoughts or depression to seek help though, the sooner the better, because there is help out there and if they give it a try they can become happy and live a good life. They just have a medical problem that can be cured.

No suicide is never a good way out. Life changes constantly what seems like an insurmountable problem today may look entirely different next week or next year or ten years from now.

If you're having suicidal thoughts, get some help. Call a distress line, go to your local ER, tell your pastor, priest, rabbi, imam, teacher, parents, counsellors, even tell your friends and if they're real friends they'll get you the help you need and won't be encouraging you to commit suicide.

There is help for you if you take it and think about the devastation you'll leave your family and friends and people you know with.

It is the most selfish act a person can commit. There are WAY to many ways to get help these days. That person is ONLY thinking of themselves. They don't think of the people left behind, with all the questions, and guilt.
I've been through allot in my life.In one year,I moved all the way across the U.S. with my husband at the time,I opened a business,I was raped, found out my husband had lost his job,but didn't tell me.He got up every morning like he was going to work, but was really going to his "GIRLFRIEND'S",had charged every credit card I had to the max, kicked his sorry butt to the curb, filed bankruptcy, lost my house, and the only one of my siblings that was not only my best friend, but my big brother died.I'm not going to say that the thought didn't cross my mind. But that would have been incredibly selfish. How would my parents have felt having to bury 2 children.Suicide is a very sad thing for someone to think is the ONLY way out of a situation.Things will get better, and eventually what ever is causing the pain will go away,if you only just reach out and tell someone how bad you're hurting.I pray it's not you who are entertaining these thoughts,If so,please reach out to someone. If you feel you can't talk to anyone you know, then go to a church.Doesn't matter if you are a non-believer,it will be someone to talk to.Or call the suicide help line.Better than all of those, make an appt. with your doctor and tell how your feeling.Take care and God bless

P.S.I don't know how old you are,if you have children or not.I don't have kids, but it's been almost 16yrs.ago that my brother died. And it was almost like a suicide. He was alcoholic, and told time and time again that he would die if he kept drinking, and that's what he chose. To this day,my mother and father(which are very strong people)talk about how it's not normal to bury your own child.

i've got customary a pair of human beings who've killed themselves and the difficulty is extra complicated to describe. They regarded prevalent on the exterior so whilst it happened it replaced right into a entire ask your self. the excellent element to do is to ask and be a pal. If i ought to turn decrease back time, and lend an open ear or hand, i might completely do it. each and every now and additionally then you only in no way understand what's happening in somebody's head till it is too overdue, yet I wouldnt call them emotionally vulnerable the least bit. each and every each and every now and then human beings only get in a hollow so darkish the place there is not any optimism, the place there is not any mild on the top of the tunnel and that they don't grow to be vulnerable, they simply grow to be bored with dealing. coping with melancholy takes potential, not purely that, yet some human beings use substance abuse which makes it worst.

Well, I don't think its a solution at all. Most of this is opinion, and speculation, coupled with religion...but I think that if you commit suicide the problems you are trying to run from follow you...and you don't go to heaven or hell, you only repeat that part of your life that caused you to contemplate suicide again and again and again...which in a way is like hell.

And the people who say that are correct. Life may be bad today but there is always tomorrow. Everyone goes through tough times in their lives as well as good times. One had to accept that things aren't always going to be great.

If you think your problems are bad? Try being the parents, spouse, child, relative or friend of someone who kills themselves. A lifetime of grief and questioning isn't the nicest of gifts to give those that love you.

Permanent yes!
A Solution - NO!
It is a cop-out and the most selfish thing you can do. You leave all those who love you wondering what they could have done. So you dont solve any problems in your life and you destroy the lives of those around you.
