Because if they dont know you thats the first thing they see is how you dress and some people were brought up different ways , if you dress like a freak or look like a thug that can whoop some arss than most likely they will not go up to becuase they just might think you'll kill them.....and the music thing....if you listen to country, you might be a redneck or maybe a little to sweet....pop....maybe preppy,,,,and rock music , hardcore stuff...you probably had a bad life and are very depressed and thats why that music attracks you the most....so i dont know...people judge on what they see and what they we're brought up to think...i dont necessarily agree with them but thats just the way it is....if you care then brush your hair/teeth put on a nice dress and a smile and look presentable...if you want to continue the way you are than dont care what anyone thinks.

It's natural to do this because we all wear clothes and we are surrounded by music and hear it all day. This is a level playing field where people may not know others well. Some of my better friends I met cause they like the same music as me. But at the same time rivalry can be created between groups, such as between different rap groups.
Quite simply, humans like to group together, whether by race, religion, gender, music taste, favourite hobbies...it goes on. This gives us allies and friends to help us. It also means that a common goal can be reached.
Hope this helps!

Like a couple of others have already said, it's human nature to judge. And we instantly judge on the things that are most apparent - ie general appearance (including dress sense, beauty etc).
And again, judging on other things which make people individuals, are the things which help us feel 'superior' to others (believe it or not).
There's some proof in Psychology/ Sociology about this - people bully and belittle people to empower themselves and to paint over their own insecurities. By unfairly judging someone, we allow ourselves to think that we're clearly better than they are, because they've made such bad choices.
Nonetheless, we're all human, and i'm happy to admit to prejudging everyone i meet! It might make me shallow, but at least i'm honest! :oD

That's just the way it is. It may seem unfair but people make up their minds about you in a couple of minutes. So think twice about how you dress and how you present yourself. You only get one chance to make a good impression.

there are some of us who choose to judge by what we know and feel not what we see. however some people are just that shallow. i feel some people raise the kids that the have to have the best. so when they see some one who dont have those things the feel theres somthing wrong w/that person whenin fact their fine.the inside matters most 2 me ne way.

Human nature. We like to group people together, wether its by religion, race, music, dress. We feel the need to put things in to boxes - I think its a control thing. People are scared of the unfamiliar, and by categorising people, we feel we 'know' them, and can control them.

because it's so easy to judge and every does it to some extent but really the thing is when you meet the person you've judged give a second chance to see if your wrong or right.
