I'm quite broad minded but there are some things that are private and I don't think it's a good idea to sensationalise birth just to score high ratings. Besides which when I did it, twice, I had the option of having students present and I declined, I just felt it wasn't a circus and I didn't want guests there. It doesn't matter whether teenagers watch it or not, they aren't going to find any sexual gratification and it isn't going to make them think twice about 'putting out'. And it certainly isn't a situation where you can say to a pregnant woman, 'this is what its' like and this is exactly how it will be for you', because it's an individual experience.

I didn't know that. Hmmn I kinda think it should be a personal thing, but I've seen the sex ed recording of birth (I'm sure it's unedited it's seriously grim) many a time throughout my life in education so why the hell not.

Besides, they've showed a live autopsy on television, if people can cope with that, a natural phenomena like birth should be a walk in the park!

Hmmmn.. on second thoughts the "LIVE" aspect concerns me. Supposing something happens to the mother or child... how awful would that be?

I don't know much about the circumstances, but my gut instinct is that it is a bad idea. I have no problems of them showing full, unedited footage of births, but to do it live is a little bit different. I'd be worried about how the family would feel if something went wrong - I wouldn't want that shown on TV, nor would I want to watch it.

Whats all the fuss about? anyone would think a live birth had never been seen on tv before, so many people have short memories, channel five is shite anyway and they only do stuff like this for sensationalistic reasons. Wake up and smell the coffee people for christs sake before we end like the USA

just like the live internet birth a few years ago...Alot of people are going to be watching it.
I wonder how she will feel if she poops..really because lots of women do when giving birth.
I think its such a dumb idea but it is a catching idea and the people that do tv know it..

I dunno. I'm having my first baby in December and I'm a bit scared to watch it in case it really scares the crap out of me!!!! Because I know I have to go through all that and I have no idea who bad it is or how I'll cope. If the woman is screaming her head off and its really gory it'll just scare me!!!

How can they predetermine when the baby is born though? Unless its a caesarian. I mean, even induced births can take a while to get going.

I don't think I'm gonna watch it. I don't really want to watch someone else going through all that. I'll know soon enough when the time comes for me. i'm scared enough as it is!!!
