Stratovolcano, similar to Vesuvius, Krakatau, and Mt. St. Helens. active or not they can produce some of the most explosive and deadly eruptions.

In spite of what the previous respondant said quote "there are no good volcanoes", all volcanoes are good since they replenish the atmosphere and the land with many of the substances we require for living.

The thing is, people do not have to live under them. Generations seem to forget, and it seems that the people of Pompeii, most of whom were killed by Vesuvius, did not even know it was a volcano.

But anyway, the fact is we would not be here without volcanoes.

probably an underwater volcano that produces a tsunami. But the pyroclastic flow from a volcanic explosion like Mt. St. Helens is deadly hot, and can travel over 100 miles per hour.

Well in a risk management setting stratovocanoes as they have the highest gas content in their magmas and are therefore the most explosive. Usually the high death tolls are with these types of volcanoes.

The explosive kind, that shoots out poison gas and pyroclastic "flows" or clouds of gas, moving incredibly fast, vaporizing anything organic and choking any living creatures who aren't even it's direct path. The kind that you can survive would be the predominantly lava-related ones, like the one on Montserrat, W.I., but in the end, there's no GOOD kind of volcano, IMO!

Active volcanoes. Especially strato volcanoes. They erupt with mighty force.

Although a stratovolcano is bad I think a caldera is much worse.
