How often should you clean your make-up brushes, sponges and applicators? And how do you clean them? Thanks!

Unless the brushes are expensive and really good ones, when they need cleaning, throw them out. I clean mine every Sunday night while I get ready for work. Warm soapy water and blot dry on paper towels. Dry by morning.

I disagree with all the people saying throw them out thats for sure. The best thing you can do for yourself to help you get the most out of your makeup is to get yourself a nice brush set. It doesnt need to be super fancy or anything, but nice brushes are far more important than fancy makeup. With that said, regular shampoo works for cleaning your brushes, I use conditioner on any of my natural hair brushes as well, it helps keep them moisturised. When you shampoo them make sure you lie them flat to dry, if the water collects at the base of the bristles then it can make the clue come undone and hairs will fall out,and if your handles are made of wood it can damage it. I shampoo my brushes once every two weeks, and I use a brush cleaner from Cover FX in between those times. With the Cover FX brush cleaner I just put it on a cotton pad, and then I wipe my brush over that, then take any excess color and cleaner off with a kleenex

Use disposable, then chuck frequently and replace with fresh clean brushes, sponges & applicators.

I replace my sponges and applicators everyday because even two applications with the same stuff gets bacteria and can cause you to break out.
