Well, the cool air in the early morning, the christmas decoration displayed in the malls and of course the bonus I will be receiving from work. I am pretty excited to buy all my kids and nephews all the things that they like and which makes me feel the spirit of Christmas..

When I start walking through the department stores and see the christmas trees and all the ornaments and stuff out. I love looking at all the ornaments, hearing the Christmas music playing and see all the houses being decorated and lit up!!!! Thats what puts me in the Christmas Mood.

The first snowflakes on a damp, cloudy day-just those little ones you have to look closely at to even believe they are snow, walking through the tree farm where we choose our tree-smells so good!-Christmas carols, Thanksgiving. You wonder why I list Thanksgiving, I'll bet. Years ago, my mom and dad, aunt and uncle, used to come to my house for Thanksgiving and, after the men were all sacked out in chairs and on the couch and the children off playing and dusk was closing in, we'd have coffee and pie and discuss Christmas gifts . My mother would give me a check for me to buy the children's gifts from her and my dad. W'd talk about past Christmases-such a fond memory!

I'm alive, I get to see another Christmas, that is enough for me.
Why?
Because on Dec 15th 1981 I had my first brain surgery to relieve pressure in my brain (hydrocephalus) The neurosurgeon at UCDavis informed my family to make funeral plans, as they had never had anyone as sick as I was survive.
If I did somehow survive, I would be in a vegetative state for however long I lived.
I survived, and have survived 42 more brain surgeries since then,so...
Being alive gets me into the Christmas spirit!
oh...that and all of the music, candy, trees, presents......
that doesn't hurt,either!

I bake gingerbread people! While listening to some of my 100 Christmas Cd's.
I have an old recipe that includes Molasses, nutmeg, cloves and obviously ginger. Those smells always make it Christmas.

My children, Christmas shopping, decorating, cold weather and /or snow, Christmas music, and remembering all the Christmasses of the past. I really miss those good old ones, but I have so many more to go!

For me it is the day after Thanksgiving. Listening to a station play Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving till Christmas. Knowing that I can listen to it for 4 weeks and be as jolly as I want to be. :)
