My parents have two very large turtles that they rescued from a highway. We need to get rid of them to someone who can care for them or release them. We are not sure what type of habbitat they would need. Does anyone know of anyplace that would help?

Like others have said, try finding a humane society or wildlife rescue locally - most towns have one nearby. Some areas may have a local herpetology society than can point you in the right direction. Do NOT take it to a zoo - any accredited zoo is NOT allowed to just take in random animals because of the risk of disease to it's collection. If all else fails, contact a vet for advice.

Turtles generally take little care, so if you can figure out what type of turtles they are, you can probably provide themwith the care they need and help to supplement their diet yourself.

But if you must get rid of them, try releasing them to a local wildlife sancutary or nature museum.

I have tortoises,,, It sounds like you might have found tortoises. You should look on the Internet to identify them and then see if you have a local turtle an tortoise in your area. They could pick them up and give them the help they need and place them in a really good home. The difference between a turtle and a tortoise is.... a turtle needs to live in water and a tourtoise needs to live on the land. good luck..... :)

It depends on what they look like, you never said. I would take them to pets mart or pet-co.
