Your question is worded a little odd, however i will try and make sense of it. Ecosystems are always under going some form of change weather man-made or natural. So to ask of restoration, yes there have been hundreds of examples I.E. the Appalachian mountain range (Tennessee Valley Authority) the forests of Europe (management practices), and many Superfund sights (those that were finished or not to toxic) Where the big problem lies is once a place can no longer be considered wild, this is the real cost of 'the need of restoration'. Anyway I could go on, hope this answers it.
