I have set up a home network with my computer and my wifes. When she downloads songs to certain folders, I can get access to them on mine. I have allowed access to my certain folders, but can't seem to find or see it. What to do next? I have XP PRO and she has XP Media. Do I need a hub or can our router work both ways? Thanks

The router will do the job. First, make sure both of you can see the internet. After that, right mouse button click the directories on both computers that you want to SHARE..... Then click on My Network Places and you should see all available computers and directories that you have shared.

Her 'certain folders' are probably the built-in Shared folders that MS puts there for you. If you want her to access other folders - you have to physically share them as described above.

Since this is your Home network I assume both PCs are in the same IP subnet .So to get started ;Get to ms-dos and type
"ipconfig /all"on PC1 and then PC2 .
Eg.
PC1-192.168.1.2,
PC2-192.168.1.3 &
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Then type "ping -t 192.168.1.3" from PC1.
Are the PCs pinging each other .Repeat this on PC2 .
If you're able to ping your wife's PC then make sure the WinXP firewalls either diabled or allows access to PC1/FIle sharing.
