I don't have a problem with people who immigrate to the U.S. to secure for themselves the American way of life. I do have a problem with people who come to the U.S. to be Mexican (or whatever country they are from) instead of an American.

So again, I don't understand why people come live in the U.S. and wave the Mexican flag, continue to speak Spanish, and do not assimilate in to the American culture. If Mexico were so great people wouldn't be fleeing it to come to the U.S. and people would be fleeing the U.S. to go there. The problem we have now with the illegals from Mexico is not "immigration", it is "colonization".

Please don't defend the criminal behavior of law breaker who come to this country illegally. I just want to know why they claim they love their own country so much that they refuse to live in it.

I really don't have an answer for why this is happening. What I have a problem understanding is why American citizens get so upset when US Immigration and Border Patrol try to do their jobs and keep illegals from entering our country. Especially when there are so few Border Patrol officers and they are not as fully funded as they should be. Take a string on map so it goes around all of our country border including the oceans. Measure it against the map scale and see how much space the Border Patrol has to cover. Then look at how many Border Patrol officers including Coast Guard there are to patrol the overall borders.
From what I understand, a majority of illegals my friends deal with are either in drug trade or are fleeing felonies from Mexican authorities. Some of them are also former Mexican military. This problem is part of the reason our crime rate is going up in this country.
Thanks for letting me rant.

Oh Judith, These companies closed plants HERE that paid decent paychecks to American workers & took the jobs to Mexico. So I don't really want to hear that as an exuse for why Mexican's are coming here illegally. Also 1 illegal immigrant who earns one years worth of wage here will allow him/her to support a family for the next 10 years there in style. And they don't have to pay taxes because they are getting paid under the table. Don't you every wonder why some many illegals all live in a one or two bedroom apt or house together? So they can save more money to send back home. Haven't you wondered why our unemployment rate is so high. Why should an employer hire a hardworking American worker whom he has to pay taxes and benefits for when he can hire a illegal under the table and pay him next to nothing and not have to pay taxes and benefits for that person.

I obviously cannot speak for the entire Mexican population, but here is what I percieve:
They come here for jobs. They can't make any money for their families in their own countries. Many immigrants don't assimilate because it is difficult. Those who are older have a hard time learning a new language. I don't find that strange, I would have a very hard time learning a new language too. But most immigrants do, especially the children. They learn English and go to school. They like all the same kinds of music and fashion as the American-born kids. That sounds like assimilation to me. As far as waving the flag-wouldn't you have an American flag if you moved to another country? You would probably hold onto your flag and hang it outside just as a symbol of your heritage. And I don't think that there is anything wrong with that. We live in a democracy, and only being allowed to pledge love to the one flag that represents the country you live in wouldn't really be free, would it?

Because their country refuses to spend their tax dollars on infrastructure to make their area of the world a land of opportunity. During the time the book The Ugly American was written countries chose to nationalize businesses. With that as a disincentive many in the 3rd world didn't even have a chance to have the benefits of the infrastructure.

Will Venezuela experience the same problem?

Beats me, some of them just want to keep their heritage alive in their family, not much more. But yes, many of them(from all ethnicities) believe they are not american but rather, African, or Mexican. These people are usually the children from the people who immigrated to the US. So it is a little ironic.

Because American corporations have spoiled the land and water, andare keeping mexican wages below what it takeswo suport even one person, let alone a family. You want them to go back home, start picketing head offices of the corporations that refuse to pay mexican workers a fair wage. I suggest you start with walmart, Gm, union carbide, and Ford. they are the biggest criminals.

BECAUSE... Our fascist government allows for corporations to hire them in droves for cheap labor, going against their very citizens of their own country.

Because our fascist government does nothing to stem the tide and leaves our borders as porous as ever even after we were attacked by terrorists because they are THAT beholden to corporate interest.
