If the terrorists want our govt to crack down on us, and basically change our lifestyle in various ways via govt expansion (fingers ears and eyes in peoples private lives)....Are they winning in this way?

*Please dont argue about the methods of intrusion by govt. I simply want to know if in that way you think terrorists have accomplished part of what they want.

The total of americans killed in all of history by the terrorists is not worth one law being changed considering USA as a whole. Reminds me of a boxer who takes a fall on a whiffed jab.

Allthough not killing even 0.0001% of us, should 1 law be added, and even 1 freedoms be lost?

"We never did have the right to talk on the phone with terrorists without being listened to."

Wow, what a brilliant question. I basically realized that bush will be extremely smarter than we assume of? If no freedom, then they would not attack us ? lol So bush needs to take the rattling situation inflicting freedom away, that's a wise technique for him, why scuffling with them, basically kill their activity in US , no better freedom !? lol And for unlawful Immigration themes, use a similar trick, now why do people go the borders, $$$ is the answer, so damage the business equipment and devalue US $, then they run like hell south bond route !? the guy would properly be a genius ? Regards.

yes they are and are continuing to do! what do you think they are doing in iraq right now by increasing the amount of attacks 3 fold? this is the iranian and sirian way to make the people of america loose there resolve and put in a democratic president that is anti war and they win! i think people on both sides of the isle are stupid here! they keep up the bad publicity comming out of there and you get the under 25 crowd rowled up enough to actualy vote..it's sad people cant open there eyes to see that they are being manipulated by the terrorist themselves, and now some here actualy feel sorry for them!

The word terrorist gets so meaningless at this point. I've heard a comments on the use of that word: 1)terrorist is what the big army calls the little army and 2)terrorist is a term that dehumanizes a person while telling nothing about them. The USA has used all tactics the 'terrorists' are using, except beheading (and thank goodness, because this difference is apparently the source of national pride for many red staters at this point,) so if the tactics of terror don't make you a terrorists, what does? the goals of the 'terrorist?'

there are groups like hezzbollah, called terrorist, that function as humanitarian and civic entities, as well as an avenue for violent political resistance. there are groups like the 'iraqi insurgents' who are only doing what americans would do were our country invaded.
there are people like tim mcveigh - god knows what he was thinking. And then there's al queda. Is that whom you mean?

Understanding al queda would be very interesting, no doubt. Bin Laden said he wants us out of Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Middle East. Many believe he wants to take over Saudi Arabia. What benefit would accrue to him if Americans lose their freedoms?

If strong dissent on Israel and the House of Saud existed in America, it would benefit Bin Laden ostensibly, because our support for his nemesis hurts him. If his attacks unify us, it helps him galvanize the opinion of the people is his region of infuence - he stands up to the big imperial bully - and gets them to send their army to get bogged down by us...

I think it's funny to say that if bush is right and the terrorist hate us for our freedoms than bush is helping them by destroying our freedoms. But, they don't hate us for our freedoms.

The middle eastern people who hate us hate because we support their dictators who oppress them, and keep them poor in many countries there, and because of our support for Israel. Bin Laden can use this, as their individual country's leaders use this, to distract the populace from the real issues they have to solve.
So, I don't see how it helps the terrorists or makes them winning.

i think it's reasonable to ask us to do something immediately to end the wretched plight of the palestinians. i think it's reasonable to ask us to leave iraq right now and to get our military out of the middle east. i wonder what would happen to terror if we did those things. i don't believe in using violence. boy, it would be great to see us respond to the middle east (especially since we play such a huge role in creating the problems) by turning the other cheek. we are the, uh, christians, after all.

BTW, a former cia counter-terrorism officer named robert baer has written a novel called 'blow the house down in which he basically says 9/11 was a business deal, involving stock market manipulation and insurance claims, with the arab 'terrorists' basically hired by american businessmen. Baer said he wrote fiction because he can tell more of the truth that way.

I think the only people who view the change in our lifestyle and freedoms as a win are the bush crime family and their lackeys and their brainwashed minions.

Of course they have. Terrorism is about fear. Terrorist win everytime we give up a freedom. We had all the tools we need long before they attacked us. We just didn't have the smarts to put it together. Right now it seems to me that they are winning.

We haven't lost one iota of freedom.
We never did have the right to talk on the phone with terrorists without being listened to.
If anyone wants to communicate with terroirist friends, they can still write them letters in privacy.

If we stick our heads in the sand and do nothing, they are also winning.

I prefer to not let them win without a fight.

Yes, lobo, I agree, and have seen the memo you cut n pasted. See if you can condense that to 50 words or less so people on this site will read it.

They might possibly be winning if that is what they wanted, but it is not. They want all westerners dead.
