Is there a double phone jack insert to connect another computer up to an exterior modem without having to purchase a cat5?

phone cable and cat 5 are 2 different things.
Most phone cords have 2-4-6 pins/wires.
They do NOT meet the data capacity standards of a CAT5 cable. Phone cords are usually Cat3 at best.
IF you have 2 phone lines and 2 modems, you can connect with both computers.
If you only have 1 phone line, and no DSL/Cable, you would have to use ICS.
For networking & sharing internet, a router/switch is best.
yes, that means Cat5/Ethernet.

No, you have to use a router to connect multiple computers to one modem. It's called a home network, or LAN.

DONT try this!! you will LOSE YOUR SONGS.. IF U upload year IPOD TO somebody's COMP..THEY SONGS WILL take place ON year IPOD && YU CAN purely USE THEIR COMP to function extra OR DELETE... I found out THE difficult way =[ I lost ALL MY SONGS.. just to GET some video clips...
