My fiance and I are going to a park tomorrow that has lots of hiking trails and water falls. All together it's about a 3 hour hike. What should we take with us?

I guess you should think about what to wear first, so hiking boots, cargo shorts, t-shirt and bring a long-sleeve shirt as well (or sweater) because it might get cold if you're at a higher-than-usual altitude. Then think about equiment. Seeing as it's only a three-hour hike, you'll probably only need a small 40litre backpack each and maybe a camel-pack for water. Bring a small first-aid kit just in case one of you fall - it never hurts to be prepared. If you're going on an afternoon hike, a small lunch wouldn't hurt either, so bring a blanket in case you plan to sit on some grass. Then sunscreen, bug repelant and hats should top your packing off.

Lots of water. And u will proble be in the woods so u wont need sun block. But being by the water there might be masqetos so bring bug repalent. Mabey a blanket so u can sit under the water fALL and some sandwiches. Bring an ace bandage in case u or him sprain your ankles. That should for you long hike have fun.

Consider the elements first thing, what will your weather be like, do you need rain gear? take water for drinking and something to eat (high-carbs), a compass and map if you are not familiar with the area. A change of socks, this will keep your feet from getting blisters especially if you get them wet in the water. And last thing, take a camera so you can preserve the memory of your nice hike and share with others that are not lucky enough to go with you.

Water, blankets, trail mix, first aid kit, swimsuits, cell phone (for 911), toilet paper,
whistle (call for help), sturdy hiking shoes, foot
balm for blisters, small- but effective flashlight,
map of the area, extra car key, money for
trinkets, don't carry credit cards or too much money in case of thieves, small mirror for signaling, sturdy knapsacks to carry stuff, matches, sunglasses, sunscreen p-30, extra socks, can opener, small cans of fruit, candy bars, mosquito repellent, candles, sweatshirts,
sweatpants, compass etc. Everyone has an opportunity to become lost or injured in the wilderness. Those who survive are those who prepare in advance!

Remember to tell friends where you are going and what time you are expected to return. Cell
phones may not work in all areas of the park.
Have a really good time and a safe day!

Itt would be great to bring your lunch in a bag and a sheet or something to set on---when you hike as far as you are going to, sit down, rest, eat and enjoy the surroundings. Then you'll be all rested for the hike back.
