I remember being damn near on the verge of tears on 9/11. I'm not somebody who cries much either, but for obvious reasons that day was terrible. I live in Nebraska, too, so it's not like I was in the midst of the carnage. But it affected a lot of people all over the world.
I also cried a bit when my grandfather passed away a few years ago. He was a B-17 pilot in WWII, and I really respected him. In hindsight, I doubt I showed it as well as I could have, and I regret that.
Finally (and this one is embarrassing), I cried when my cat died. He was my cat in that I paid for his veterinary care, food, poop-sand (sorry!), etc. I got him during a really tough time in my life, and despite him not being an especially affectionate cat, he always made me feel better. When I finally made the decision to have him put down, it was after a year or two of kidney problems, and slow but steady deterioration. I always wondered if I couldn't have done more (the vet said there was really nothing else to do). If I hadn't gotten him during a rough episode, I may not have been so broken up.

Three days ago. My best friend's mom died after a battle with cancer. It makes it even harder because I'm in Europe and my friend is at home in the States, and I just wanted to be closer to hug her and be there for her through this hard time.

Yesterday. I have an infected nerve on one of my back teeth. I had to leave work and make an emergency trip to the dentist. He prescribed me penicillin and Vicotin (thank God)

This morning, today is my mother's birthday she died when I was 12, I am 42 now but I still miss her very much.
