Hostel had a scary idea, but really failed in execusion. Wolf Creek wasn't that great, either.
I think the three scariest movies I have ever seen would be Saw, Saw 2, and the Exorcist.
I think Blair Witch project was scary, but only the first time you see it. After that it is just dumb.
While I never felt that any of the Halloween or Friday the 13th movies were scary, I did think the Nightmare on Elm Street movies were, although they were also kind of fun, too. If you are having a halloween gathering, these movies might be a bit "safer" choices.

Saw: at the end when you get to understand the whole film the middle of the floor ( I wont spoil it!) the music accompanying, I have seen the film before, but it was when I watched it in the early hours of the morning, which did not help!
The Ring (Japanese) when the girl came out the telly, luckily I watched it in the afternoon, I normally fall asleep to the telly at night..... NO MORE!!
Switchblade Romance.. too bloody!!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2004?: The very end!!!
Blair Witch: Even though its not real, it still freaks me out, the very final scene, reason being is because before they went on the trip, they interviewed a certain person and he said that the witch could not bear the person to look at them, so he made them face the wall.

I don't think movies are really scary, I'm obviously a big horror fan but I don't think I've really ever truly been scared by a movie. I guess the only movie that really affected me was the Blair Witch since I live around a wooded area.

The Exorcist! I saw this film when it was first released, I was only seventeen and I couldn't sleep for weeks. It's not just the visual effects, the whole idea of being possessed really bothered me.

Hostel was not scary. It was just lot's of sex and gore (that's not a bad thing). The old Jason and Michael Mires (probably spelled wrong) movies were scarier to my.
