I am 21 now and a freshman in community college and have hopes to win a football schiolorship. I didn';t play this year so I can gain 20 more pounds or so (currently 185). Can any coaches or experts give me some advice.

Try to volunteer some time with the team, such as being a ball boy, assistant equipment manager, etc. Get to know the coaches and talk to them. Your willingness to volunteer will be noticed and appreciated. If you have the talent, next year you can try out for the team. If you have the talent, you've got the scholarship, provided that you also have good grades.

I think you have 4 years of eligibility once you set foot on any college campus. So you can be 35 and still get a scholarship if you are good enough and haven't had 8 semesters of being in college yet. You can also get a 5th year of eligibility if you have a medical hardship called a medical redshirt. There is also a regular redshirt which means you can have a scholarship and play in 3 games or fewer that season. That gives you another year of eligibility.

You actually have 5 years of eligibility once you start on a college team.... 22 is not too old as long as you didnt play when you left highschool, if you did go to college at 18 and play football you would have 1 year left.
