I've had 4 children and believe me, there's a little life happening there. He will be able to hear the heartbeat depending on the position of the baby. It will be faint but it will be there.

with an external doppler, you'd not be able to hear the heartbeat. However, I am now 13 weeks pregnan and at exactly 6 weeks and 6 days I had an *emergency* ultrasound due to some bleeding..lots of it. Anyway, the heartbeat was seen and heard. I actually SAW it before I heard it. Of course, it may depend also on whether you are having an external or an internal ultrasound. I would assume this early it would be an inter (transvaginal) ultrasound. A bit icky feeling, but you'll be able to see and hear your baby this way!! Congrats and good luck!!

Usually with ultrasounds they can only see a heartbeat. With some u/s equipment, they can make a heartbeat based on what they see. It's nothing more than computer generated.

They can usually hear a heartbeat through the doppler at 12 weeks. Sometimes more. I didn't hear either of my daughters' hearts until 16 weeks. Perfectly normal.

if i count from my last cycle, i'd be 9 weeks 1 day. if i go according to the first ultrasound, i'd be 7 weeks 6 days. i had an emergency ultrasound last night and was able to hear two beating hearts loud and clear.

I don't think that the doctors here the baby's heartbeat until you are about 3 months or longer...So he will only be able to see it for now...Good luck!!!

yes mame you can hear that heartbeat.. you can hear the hearbeat as early as 5 weeks, and the heartbeat will be fast too.. we heard mine when i was 8 weeks and it was 166 beats per minute.. the Dr. said it was normal for it to be that fast. Your Dr. will say the same thing... it is such an exciting feeling when you hear it... congrats!!

If you can see it, you can hear it. The baby's heart starts beating at around 8 weeks, so it's possible you might get to hear your baby's then.
