Kumbh mela the largest gathering of people for a religious purpose in the world. The biggest hindu pilgramige to take place every year from July 27 to Sept 7.

JUpitor stays in one Zodaic(Rasi) for one year. Jupitor comes to Kumba Rasi(sravista =2 Paadham(legs)-Sadhabisham+4 Paadham(legs) and Poorva Bhadra=3 legs--Total=9 legs) onc e in 12 years.That is Kumbha mela.The Union of Sun and moon is new moon(Amavasya) day-Mouni Amavasya

It is an auspicious period ( may be one or more days ) to have bath (dip)at sacred places to get blessings of the god,One such main place is Triveni (Where three rivers merge into one GANGA )at Allahabad. And it comes after every 12 years.
