Yes, you answered yourself. If they had sex then it would be statutory rape. But dating is all right.

I don't think there is a law against dating in any state. Whether or not a 16 year old could have sex with a 19 year old is dependent on the law in the state in which you live.

we just had this big program at school about the sex laws, and it turns out ur ok if ur b-day falls no more than 3 years apart...so yea i would think 16-19 would be ok well hope it helps

dating is not illegal. Depending on where you live, sexual contact of any kind (not just intercourse) might very well be.
