Battery Life?

I have purchased a Sony VGN AR11m but when it comes to battery life i have a issue. Its only been on 51 minutes after a full charge and only have 26% left. Also when you run a laptop on a charger does it run up a lot of electricity, more than a pc. Is it cost efficent to just keep a laptop on a power supply when using it. Please Help

Take it back and get it checked. Sony batteries are the ones that caused Dell laptops to catch fire!
