7x + 2 + 3x + 9 = 7X + 20
10x + 11 = 7x +20
10x = 7x + 31
17x = 31
x = 31 / 17

7x+2+3x+9=7x+20 ---which equals(next line)
7x+3x + 2+9 = 7x+20 ---simplify the equation(next line)
10x + 11 =7x+20 ---subtract 7x from both sides(etc...)
10x -7x + 11 =7x-7x +20 ---simplify the equation
3x + 11 =20 ---subtract 11 from both sides
3x + 11-11 =20-11 ---simplify the equation
3x = 9 ---Divide both sides by three
3x /3 = 9/3 ---(where / is the sign for divide) simplify
x=3 check answer 21+2+9+9=21+20
23 +18 =41
41=41 YES!

1) combine the like terms on the left side of the equation.
7x + 3x = 10x
and
2 + 9 = 11
so now you have 10x + 11 = 7x + 20 as your new equation

2) to get x by itself subtract 7x from each side.
you end up with
3x + 11 = 20

3) To get 3x by itself subtract 11 from each side.

4) You end up with 3x = 9

5) Divide 3 from each side to have x by itself. The final answer is x = 3

so here's the problem without the writing

7x+2+3x+9=7x+20
10x + 11 = 7x + 20
-7x -7x
3x + 11 = 20
-11 -11
3x = 9
x = 9

Take away 7x from both sides.
2+9+3x=20
Add 2 and 9 + 11, and take away from 20.
That leaves 3x=9, so x is 3.

Think of it as a balancing sum.

First add like terms on each side
10x+11=7x+20
Subtract 11 from both sides
10x=7x+9
Subtract 7x from both sides
3x=9
Divide both sides by 3
x=3

Put all the numbers with "x" on one side... and all the integers on the other...
7x+3x-7x=20-2-9 then do the math..... 3x=9 x=3

Combine like terms: 10x + 11 = 7x + 20
Subtract from both sides:-11 - 11
You are left with: 10x = 7x + 9
Subtract: -7x -7x
You are left with: 3x=9
Divide 3 on both sides and get x = 3

7x +3x+2+9= 7x + 20
20x + 11 =7x +20
10x -7x =20 - 11
3x = 9
x = 9/3
= 3

ok add the 7x and 3x you'll get 10 and add the 2 and 9 and you'll get 11 so it will look like this

10x+11 = 7x+20
move the 7x to the other side and move the 11 to the other side so

10x-7x = 20-11
3x = 9
divide 3
x = 9 ta da!!

whoever gave me thumbs down is an asshole!
