I think the Beatles were more global and had a bigger fan base. Elvis was possibly more famous in the states because he crossed so many styles of music: Gospel, Country, Blues, and Rock.
Both had influence on music that will last forever.

It is difficult to measure fame. I have tried to search for the one with the most records sold. Some sources say Elvis and some say the Beatles. I'll call it a draw.

level of fame is probably the same, as far as their impact, I think the Beatles, when they came to america on that famous day, the airport was full of people and they subsequently caused the famous british invasion. Elvis was a superstar, and so were they, but they were more impacting on culture and music(by far)

Beatles by far. They were known world wide, rather just the US by Elvis.
