It depends on who is hosting it. At many concert clubs/venues it's just a ploy to get kids in during off-peak times and make a few extra bucks. Sometimes they're a total scam, because the "host" really doesn't give a crap about the prizes and just does "fan applause" so the winner is decided by how many friends (customers) the band brings in rather than the talent of the winner. A well run battle of the bands is a blast, because the sets are short and you can hear sevearl bands in a short amount of time and maybe find a new favorite band. The best battle of the bands either have real judges that score the bands or are run by student organizations or non-profit groups that care more about a good event rather than profit. Have fun!

it depends. sometimes the bands totally suck. other times, they rock. it also depends on the people there. if its a bunch of poser kids, it won't be like a real concert. if it's real fans of the music, then it tends to be more like a regular concert.

it's the same with a concert but the thing is you'll be competing with other bands and that's what so great about it. you'll be experiencing different kinds of music and that's way cool!
