I got to school full time

2006-10-07 08:28:22 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous in Education & Reference Higher Education (University +)

I need a job that will pay for college and pay for living expenses such as a car and an apartment, food, etc. Not yet having a degree is keeping me from getting a job that pays over 7 bucks an hour.

I would suggest finding a job at the university and being a student worker.

Possible places to work on campus: in the residence halls (RA or working the front desk), bookstore, smoothie/coffee or other food places, some colleges within the university might have a student services hub, career developemtn center, union, etc.

Working on campus is really flexible... they know you're a student and they know that your schedule will change each quarter/semester. Usually they'll also allow you time during midterm/finals weeks to study.

As a full time college student, that has 2 very demanding majors (molecular biology, and business management economics), I would say the best job is an on campus job. These bosses understand that your school comes first and that you will need to take days off to study for up coming exams. Plus these tend to be not very demaning jobs so you are able to get homework and studying done while at work. They also schedule you around your school schedule.

Depends on your major.
You want to get a job that is in your field of study. The job has to look good on your Resume.

Ex: Civil Engineer - work as a draftsmen for an ENGR firm.

im a full time student myself, and the best job is one that allows you to bring your books so you can study while your working.. I am a hostess on some days ( i study at the hostess stand ) and a hotel desk clerk other days ( i study at the desk ). but if you want to make money for tuiton and you live in a college town that is big.. you could waitress or bartend... bartenders in my town make the most money!

Any job that is part-time, not too mentally or physically challenging, somewhat flexible in its hours and financially rewarding.
