I have a copper IUD, inserted 1999. I've had problems with yeast infections, IC, diabetes like symptoms, anxiety, itching, hives, generally miserable and many other problems for the past 6 years. My OBGYN doesn't think the problem is my IUD. I do think that is the problem as we have pretty much exhausted all other likelihoods. I am waiting to switch doctors again. This will be the 7th one I've seen in the last 8 years. I am not getting any relief and am frustrated with the medical community.
Recently, I've been doing my own research on the web and came across some pages about copper allergies and IUD's. I am now convinced, after much reading, this is the problem that I have and why nothing else has worked for me. I'm to the point where I can barely function from day to day. Nothing is working. My life is falling apart. I want to take the damn thing out myself, instead of waiting 2 wks to get my 1st appt. and then going thru it all again and waiting for him to diagnose. Any help here?

Sounds like it may be an allergic reaction to the cooper I would try a planned parenthood and have it removed!!! Don't do it yourself its dangerous and may cause you to become infertile

Doctors always think they know more than we do. It's YOUR body, it's YOUR IUD, and it's YOUR DECISION TO TAKE IT OUT! Make an appointment and demand that it be taken out - NOW! If he refuses, report him to your state medical board, and find another doctor who will remove this ASAP.

Don't take it out yourself - it's too dangerous, you could hurt yourself.

Oh expensive, that's no longer very secure or sensible in any respect. I used Mirena and my wellness care provider had to get mine out by skill of utilising ultrasound. It hadn't shifted yet she could no longer get a reliable hold close on it so she had to extremely see what she replace into doing. there are various stuff that could desire to bypass incorrect in case you do this. you would be able to shift it, you would be able to get it lodged someplace it may no longer be, you could desire to reason bleeding.... that's in simple terms no longer something which you will desire to take into your very own hands.

Noooo do not remove your iud yourself! You need to get a doctor to do that however if you cannot get in to see that particular doctor you may want to find another one who can remove it much sooner...good luck!

Ask for it to be removed...no self-respecting doctor will refuse.

Don't do it yourself - it needs to be removed at the correct angle, and needs to be checked to ensure the whole device is out safely.

You also need to ensure that you discuss alternate contraceptives.

Good luck.

NO DO NOT TAKE IT OUT YOURSELF!!!!!! That could cause hemorrage and terrrible scarring!!!!! I am not understanding why if you ask the doctor to take it out they will not. If they belief you or not that is not the issue....If you ask to take it out it is your decision. I would put my foot down!!!! Do not wait for them to diagnose....demand it come out!!! It's your body!!

haven't you just told you're ob/gyn to take it out??? this sounds odd, if you have a doctor and you want it out-why isnt it out???you just tell them you want it out for whatever reason and they need to take it out-that is your right as a woman and an patient. it takes literally, seconds. i wouldnt try to take it out myself, why risk getting an infection for something that is so easy to do. any gyn doc can do, it- gyn nurse practitioners also
