if it is a personal check drawn on citibank you can only cash it at citibank branches. citibank does not have any branches in michigan. the best thing thing to do is deposit the check in your bank account, it need not be with citibank, though it will take a few days for the funds to be available

Ask the company that originally issued you the check if they have any other affiliate banks in your area. Most times corporations set up accounts with the larger banking institutions in most cities so that they can conduct business abroad. The great thing about this is that anyone can cash one of their checks at that bank too.
So lets say that my company does business with a small local bank in my area. But I might have accounts at Bank of America, Chase, or some other nationally known bank. Because of this I can write you a check on my account and you can cash it through one of my affiliates.

Why not just take the plunge, join this century, and open a checking account at a bank of your choice. I recommend Bank of America. On the day you open your account, give them the check and they will pay it into your new bank account. Within a few days you will have a debit card that will allow you to spend money without needing cash, or for the odd occasion you need cash you can take money out of a machine called an ATM.

if you have a bank account you can deposit it in your account, if you are not sure if it is good, you can ask the bank to collect the funds and then credit your account....they will place a hold on the check and collect the money for you [this will help you if check bounces you will not have to pay a fee and you might have spent some of the money and then you have bounced checks on your account, fees as well..........

maybe one of those check cashing centers . . . or if you have a checking account, your bank will cash it for you . . but if it's an out of state check, you might have to wait a few days to get your money . . .
