I took it way back when before the essay part so it was only out of 1400. I got a 1370.
It's not hard per se. You have to learn how to take the test more than what the test actually covers. There are a lot of aids and courses out there to show you how to take it. I took it once, scored a 1240 and then took a course, scored my 1370. Did I learn more content? No. I learned how to take it.

I got a 2250 the last time I took it. I beat my school's salutatorian (who was a close friend of mine) with that score.
I had a friend who got an 1800.
It's not difficult. You just have to study for it. Get a book on the SAT and how to study for it. I think I got mine from the Princeton Review, and it was really good. Then dedicate a few hours on a weekend over the course of a few weeks to reading and brushing up on stuff. It brought my score up by a few hundred points. And make sure you take the PSAT and some practice tests. Then when you get to it you're used to it and it's not a big deal.

It is the scores' percentiles for 2004.
The average was 1026. With 50 percentile at 1030
The max was 1600 with as low as 1530 being in the 99th percentile.
The low (1 percentile) was 580 and less.
The Standard Deviation was 210.

i didn't take the SATs, but i took the SAT II and I got a 780 in Math
