there were rumours circulating in the press that a fourth instalment was on the cards, but i for one think its not a good idea; seeing as firstly, all the actors, michael j fox, christopher lloyd, lea thompson and crispin glover are all in their 40s and are therefore too old to resume their characters roles again; and secondly michael has parkinson's disease and so he would be deemed unfit to play marty mcfly, anyhow. and even if there were other actors in their place, it'll still be nowhere near as good as the first back to the future, which was a classic in its own right

Some movies should never go past a trilogy and others should never make a sequel. Trilogy example: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars 4,5,6, Star Wars 1,2,3, X-men, The Matrix, and the soon to be Bourne trilogy.(I do think they could have done a better job on X-men and The Matrix.) Single example: Dumb & Dumber, Carlitos Way, Behind Enemy Lines, Meet the Parents, or Speed. However I think that some movies need to make more sequals. For example Kung Pow, Ace Ventura, and 1 more Star Wars trilogy.

The story is complete. It covered the past, present and future. Since not much is known of the fourth dimension, it is rather difficult to do a comprehensible story line involving it.

1st episode: He went to the past.

2nd episode: He went to the future.

3rd episode:went all the way back to the past.
ruined his car.
Doc made a train that breaks time continuum, then went back to the past to live hapilly ever after.

4th episode: no more time travel car, Doc's busy raising kids, Michael J Fox too old for the character.

It was resolved and purposely left as an open ending.

Plus I don't think they wanted to keep regurgitating story after story after story like a lot of people do...

Because the actors are too old, and Michael J Fox unfortunately has Parkinsons disease !

Well, according to IMDB.com they aren't yet making a new one and I hope they don't. The trilogy was great but how much more could you actually do with the story and it stay fresh?

Probably because Michael J.Fox is ill.

He has either Huntingdons or Parkinsons disease (cant remember which)
