Mother-in-law is manipulating children against both of us, and my wife against me. She has stated numerous lies about me, and I believe will continue to do so.

Well first off your wife needs to at least hear your side of the story before jumping the gun. The number one reason why relationships don't work is because someone on the outside... Yes she's on the outside looking in because you know and she knows behind closed doors. And first off what kind of lies is she telling your children. You need to sit down and talk with the mother and law and get to the meat of the issue. She's hating on you for some reason. And I don't know the entirety of your situation. But if it isn't true you need to stick up for yourself and your family because you don't want your family to be destroyed if she is lying on you. You might need to go to counseling or have someone that isn't bias mediate you guys and all of you need to talk. That will make a big difference.

I guess it depends on how old the children are (your kids) because if they aren't little kids chances are they'll want to see their grandparents and resent you if they can't.
I'm estranged from my in-laws- have been for the past 13 years but now we have a 3 yr old daughter and they thought they could come back in our lives! WRONG! We just basically 'forgot' about them. We never talk about them or see them. They are non-existent and my daughter doesn't know any different.

Just talk, try to find another story new what your Mother-in-law can developed in the future about you, to your wife.

the only thing that i know of that you would be able to do is the last and most drastic step. a restraining order. if you can prove that she is doing that and really want her out of your life, thats your only bet. besides that, id say grow a pair of balls and tell her to mind her own business and stay out of your life.
