I'v been offered a junior position for a job in a smallish town in U.K. The starting salary would be about £ 20,000 / year and would rise to at least £ 25,000 after 2 yrs. Is this an ok salary or a lousy one? I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle of moving from Scandinavia.

I think it is pretty good salary. It is just over £10 an hour. While natonal minimum wage is £5.37
I advise you to find about where will you be working and then find the cost of living there becaues you might have to pay at leat £600 a month for your rent. that is going to be £6000 per year.
And yet don't forget After the tax you salary may become £16500.

good luck

Depends what the job is and how old you are. If you're young with little or no responsibilities, 20k is not bad. However, if you'll be living in the southern part of the UK, you'll probably need to share a place as it won't be enough to have your own place and have a good social life... May be OK further up north though.

UK is a great place to be though!

Well if that is before tax i would say that is not anything amazing. However you should factor in the fact that the tax rate is lower than in most scandinavian countries. Property is more expensive but food, clothes and going out generally cost less.

It all depends on the cost of living where you are and where you want to move to. Think about why you want to leave your family and friends in Scandinavia - its a big move !!

Best of luck
