My mother in law was suggesting this for an extra income oppertunity. She said she did it years ago, but cant remember the company she worked through. Does anyone know of a legit company that we can do this through that actually pays?

This opportunity works like this, the company will provide you with the sales letter and sometimes a mailing list, They want you to litterally "stuff" the envelope with the sales letter ( I personally prefer to neatly place it in the envelope, after you mail it off then the customer must buy or signup with the company and as soon as they do then you'll get your money. So lets say you sent out 1000 envelopes and lets say only 50 people brought something from that company then you'll only make $250.00 ( assuming your getting paid $5.00/envelope

I don't know how it works, but I have heard that they are all a scam!

It may be a pyramid scheme, where you send
letters to others asking for $1.00 and then asking them to forward the letter, so they can receive $1.00. Anyway, I have heard your outlay costs i.e. envelopes, stuffing the letters, postage, etc., will cost you more than you will ever get back. I'm sure that there is a kind hearted soul, that will explain everything to you, for a small fee. A smooth talking con-artist!

Dave's answer above, sounds really good, but in the end, he'll find out it's really a Ponzi scheme. They pay you with someone elses money, who got it from someone elses money etc.Eventually, only the person who started it will make out, because he gets a cut of everything!

Gee, if it were really that easy, wouldn't we all know about it and be doing it already?

Apoligies to Dave!

contact some marketing companies or companies who send out things in the mail (what has your mother received in the past in envelopes sent to your home) and contact those people and ask for work. These days with all the pay ahead scams to get a job, it might be better if you do envelope stuffing or label sticking locally. Ask a realtor, an insurance company, a bank. The larger places probably do it thru automation though.

umm no.. i stuff envelopes but that is just part of my job at University Nissan.. I file, answer the phone, and stuff envelopes.. That isnt a much needed job anymore because secrataries do it or any sort of office help. Sorry but you need to look for a better job.. wow.. stuffing envelopes.. that would be a sad job to have [and to admit to]

I work from home in shorts and T-shirts and sometimes topless. Try Google Adsense, it's good money. I have all the freedom I need. The only thing that tied me down is 'how much income I want or need' I create new page for my websites everyday. The more websites I have will determine how much income I can get. Anyone who can type and can create websites or blogs can make money. Blogger.com lets you create blogs for free and allows you to make money too. If you can create websites or blogs and can type, you can make online money online easily. You may make money by publishing Google Adsense on your websites. If you have a website or a web-blog, you could make money by publishing advertisements on your site (by google). If someone clicks on those ads, you will earn money. If you don't have a website, you may start creating web-blogs like blogger.com (mostly free) with advertisements (google ads) on it. Some free websites don't allow you to publish google adsense because they are doing it themself. I had received too many yahoo violation notices, so, I'll better not post my own url here. i come by this new blog which I think is good. Take a look if you are free eg: http://lost-newbie.blogspot.com/... I found her on blogger.com. I recommend this blog because I think she needs money badly

No they don't exist!

Work at home jobs are hard to find. Technical, phone work or writing jobs are the most common legit ones. You may want to check out some job leads at http://wahjobs.blogspot.com Plus there is a listing of companies that regularly hire telecommuters

You would make more money per hour flipping burgers at Madonaa's ;-)

Seriously, these companies that need envelope stuffers can now outsource overseas at pennies on the hour.
