OK I'll try and work it out for you;
the pilot of the plane dies, that's 1.
the US Marshall dies in Jack's tent, that's 1.
someone is killed by Ethan, that's 1.
charlie shoots Ethan, that's 1 more.
Boone dies, that's another 1.
the teacher(art maybe?) gets blown up by dynamite, that's 1.
Goodwin(other) died, that's 1.
Shanon is killed accidentally by Ana-Lucia, 1 more.
Eko kills two 'others', that's 2.
Ana-Lucia kills another 'other', 1.
Goodwin killed Nathan, 1.
Michael kills Ana-Lucia and Libby, 2 more.
Desmond, Locke and Eko are believed to be dead since they didn't make it back from the hatch and charlie did, so that could be another 3...
in answer to your question 14 people have died in Lost, but it could be 17 if you include the possibility of Desmond, Locke and Eko.

Loads died in the initial crash, then Eko killed two of the 'others', Boone, Shannon, Anna, Libby, Ekos brother...

That show is completly on the wrong track. I think they just get stuck on a storyline, so the just move on to something else, or kill someone off. It makes no sense anymore. whatever happened to the "monster" in the woods?

-Boone(died from falling out of plane toward end of season 1)
-Shannon(shot by Ana Lucia)
-Ethan(shot ALOT of times by Charlie)
-Hurley's girlfriend is named Libby people..(shot by Michael)
-Ana Lucia(also shot by Michael)
-I think his name is Nathan..(shot by Ana the day they landed on the island, because she thought he was one of "The Others")
-Arnzt(how DO you say that?)...literally blew up when TNT exploded when he was holding it
I think thats all, but these are just off the top of my head
(Charlie came close to dying, but Jack revived him)
