chances are low. Hakone is at sea level, most of the snow melts right away. The major snow fall starts around Jan. In all cases Hakone is a nice place to visit.

It's impossible to tell! The long-range forecast says that there'll be more snow and rain than last winter, but you know how accurate weather forecasts are! Especially long-TERM ones!!

Late January or early February would be more likely for snow, but the weather is an unknown variable - always! So no-one can say for sure WHEN it will snow - and settle - and when it won't!!
