Okay I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. If your parents asked you to get a C would you work very hard to get it? Probably not. If the tell you they want you to get an A your gonna try hard to get it or close to it. They will be happy with what you get even though they may not act like it because they know you are trying your hardest because your trying to get the higher grade not just getting whatever you end up with. Your grades help determine what you can accomplish in life. If your trying your hardest and ending up with a C all the time then you probably shouldn't be steered towards being a doctor. This way your parents can help you figure out and guide you towards a career that you will enjoy and be able to accomplish.

Because in most cases the C is a result of not reading the material, not taking the time to study it because you would rather go out with friends, email or chat on the phone or it is a result of not listening during class. We who have been through school know all the excuses for why. If you are having a legit problem like not understanding the material then it is time to get some tutoring or if it is a learning problem some testing and help. But if your parents see that no effort is being put forth to study then most likely they won't buy the excuses.
Parents want what is best for their children. And in the case of social studies it is all about memorizing what you were taught.

If you are capable of getting an A then they would be wrong to accept anything less. It's your parents' job as parents to make sure that you are striving to be your very best and to not let you fall into bad habits of procrastinating or laziness.

Also, your home situation may be better than theirs was so you would have less distraction and more opportunity to work harder for the A.

i have grown to learn that parents have invested a good amount of money in their child's education therefore when they push us to work, they do so cause they want the best from us. think of how u would feel if u had a business, u pumped most of the money u earn back into it to keep it a float and in the end it crashed. however, i do believe parents should find out the intellectual capability of their child so that they don't push them too hard or over the limit

because your parents want you to do better than they did. they made all the mistake your going to make in life. it's a wise person that See's the mistakes and knows what to do when presented with the same or similar situation. listen to your parents they have your best interest in mind. it's all to prepare you for the future. this is a tough world we live in and all you do in the future reflects what you learned in the past. good luck

They want you to apply yourself more. They want you to try your best and study hard, because when you go away to college they won't be there to tell you to do that. They want you to do it on your own. You will eventually need to live on your own and they're preparing you for it.
