We have been toghether for two year and we love each other alot he has been there for me in my worst and we have so many plans for the future and we want to get married and make it official, and start are plans for the future. The problem is he is not legal here, hes from brazil,and im from puerto rico and a citizen in the united states.Im worried that when we go to obtain are license and get married they will turn us down and state that are relationship is not an official one, which would really hurt us both cause thats not the case at all, but if anyone has gone thru this I need some edvice, thanks , sincerly sassy06

I work doing immigration documents, let me tell you that getting married with an immigrant is absolutely fine, even if he overstayed in the country and is out of status now. The only thing you say when they ask you at the court for his social sec. when filling the marriage license is that he doesnt have one. That is it. They dont care about his status. After you are married and you think is convenient since you are a Us citizen you can apply with him to petition him and adjust his residence to that of a permanent us resident. All the forms are in uscis.gov website to apply, you need a I130 to petition, I485 to register residence and he needs a social security which he gets by aplliyng for a I765 work permit.
