It sucks to say this - but you need to tell her parents or another person that is responsible for her (uncle, aunt, boyfriend etc.). People die all the time from being too thin and making themselves sick. It's very hard on your body and especially your heart when you're too thin and vomiting all the time. Her heart could give out - I'm not being dramatic, it happens all the time. You have to love her enough to do something about it. Even if she'll be pissed at you, she can't have this secret. Besides, deep down in heart, she told you because she wants help. And even though she'll be mad at first, you have to do something about it. Another way is to tell her........"I love you and I want you to stop hurting yourself. If you don't go into therapy or tell your Doctor about this and get some help, then I'm going to have to tell your family". You could write this in a letter or email. Tell her it's only because you love her and you don't want her to die. Good luck.

There is nothing that you can actually do.

Clearly your friend has an eating disorder.

What you can do is try and get your friend to accept this, and then she will be ready to receive help. Don't be too pushy though as you could end up alienating yourself from her, and then she may very well have no-one.

Usually there is an underlying reason for an eating disorder, and it will likely be this that your friend will be afraid of confronting.

Reassure her that you will always be there to support her at all times and also if and when she feels she can accept help.

It is not going to be easy for either of you though. Make sure that you have someone you can talk to and who can support you too.

I wish both you and your friend well.

My sister was anorexic and my mother cured her with a trip to the hospital to show her what happens when she does this herself. Time to be harsh is NOW! Sometimes we have to be very mean to get things across. Take the action that she won't, show her something online that is related to anorexia and plead with her to stop the ****, you love her so much and want her to stop hurting you. Keep the pity off of her and let her feel bad for you, she obviously cares about you to tell you and she is reaching out for help. If all else fails tell everyone so that someone else can help. Good luck and I hope she gets it!

research bulimia and the effects of it--print it out if you have to and show it to her-- tell her you are concerned and you think she is beautiful the way she is--make sure you get good info about it like how it destroys your teeth and throat..also you could print some pics of those disgustingly thin celebs and some nice looking celebs and say which do u think is better looking? you can also encourage her to work out if she wants a better body!! guys like women who are in good shape not women who are tooth pics!! i would try the work out thing first even if its just jogging! may be say that you want to get in shape or something--just to help her be on the right track to weight management you know--when exercising, you should suggest counting calories for your appropriate needs--its very easy!

good luck i hope this works--if not tell her mom!

She probably is ill and needs proffesional help-All you can do is be loving and supportive
Until she gets the help i'm afraid that it's probably out of your hands
I suspect she knows she's too thin but Its a disorder of the mind too
Something in her head says she's too fat and it will take a lot of support to deal with that
good luck

it's obvious she has signs of an eating disorder....talk to her, tell her the dangers of anorexia and bulimia and other eating disorders, she is self conscious with low esteem, you have to convince her that she's beautiful just as she is....if she is making herself sick...please talk to her parents, your not snitching on her, you truly are concerned....your a good friend for being worried....make her listen to you, otherwise it could get worse....

The first thing I would do is tell her parents. They can pretend to have discovered it themselves, getting you off the hook as it were. Doing nothing sounds as though it could be a bit dodgy for your mate. And if anything happened how would that make you feel.

Make sure she's not just telling you to get attention and tell her parents if she is really doing this she will end up killing herself.

Don't keep this to yourself - it's far too much responsibility. I personally would tell her parents - they can keep a better eye on her. She is obviously suffering from an eating disorder.

Your friend sounds like a has-been former child celebrity. Tell Punky Brewster to keep her fingers out of her throat!
