i'm 9 weeks with twins. i had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks where two sacs and two heartbeats were detected. last night i started bleeding PROFUSELY, no cramping just tons and TONS of blood. i filled the toilet and bathtub within a few mins. i was rushed to the ER. a pelvic exams revealed that my cervix was still closed but they still didnt have much hope, as i was still bleeding quite a bit. i was sent to get a vaginal ultrasound to see if there was anything left in my uterus. to the dr's surprise my babies were there, sac in tact with two strong beating hearts! one@117, the other@150! now only one sac with 2 babies is seen. they chalk the other missing sac up to a bad initial reading because the first ultrasound only showed 2 heartbeats. since then, i was released & put on bedrest. the bleeding has slowed to almost nothing and what is left is a brownish red & only there when i wipe, not in the pad at all. my mother thinks there was a 3rd baby that i passed.

a baby that was in his own sac. which would account for all the bleeding and the now missing sac. i can tell the drs still think im going to miscarry because the bleeding was quite alot but i believe god has other plans. has anyone ever had bleeding of that magnitude and still delivered full term? the sac that's still there has repositioned in some way they cant explain also. but it's still there, in tact with two beating hearts i was able to hear AND see. with little of no bleeding & no cramping, what do u think my chances are for successfully retaining my pregnancy?

i did pass one very large clot and a few small ones. when she did the pelvic she had to "scrape" the clots out of my vagina to be able to see my cervix clearly. when she was able to see, it was still "oozing" blood but was completely closed even when she touched it, it was closed. right now i feel very very mild cramping that i think is coming from having 2 pelvics in one day because yesterday i got my first prenatal exam also. the bleeding started yesterday evening.

gothic martha, i can see that you didnt read my entire question or you'd of clearly seen that i've been to the ER. almost spent the night there, i had been there so long. i was sent home on bedrest with an emergency appt on monday with my regular OB/GYN.

it sounds horrible but because there were thought to be 2 sacs earlier, i prayed that i'd at least be able to retain one. i'd rather lose one than lose the entire pregnancy. i believe there may of been a 3rd fraternal twin to the identicals that i now know i'm carrying and didnt develop properly and passed through.

maybe but it is one of those things you may never know so please dont dwell on itand if you lost a baby you would have had a clot, and your cervix would have dilated, but hold on in there for those two little beating hearts

i'm chuffed they have mentioned that the toddler is large. a pair of weeks in the past I had to circulate to scientific institution for a similar reason and we got here across that i replaced into initially having twins yet regrettably misplaced one, yet had a test and a consultation after the test so as that the well-being care provider ought to describe each and every thing. i'm greatly surprised that the docs did not examine extra for you, observing why or the place you're have been bleeding from. yet whilst the docs have mentioned toddler is large attempt to sit down down back perhaps call your gp and spot if he can help clarify extra.

I'm soo sorry to hear that. I think your mother might have been right because if they saw two babies and both babies are still there, then they might have been a third but not sure. But I'm sorry for all what u have gone through. Don't worry everything would be fine just try to eat right, get plenty of rest and don't stress to much.

i had very heavy bleeding when i was about 9-10 weeks.. very little tissue but lots of bleeding.. when i went to the er they also told me that my cervix was still closed and an ultrasound showed the baby and the heartbeat which was 150.my doc dont know why it happened but there was no harm to the baby.. sometimes things like that happen and no one knows why.. i am 20 weeks now and have never had any other problems.. its scary, but just take it very easy and do what your doc says.
