Yes, I have noticed it and it is sad...so many people (male/female) relationships tend to not know how to communicate or make the effort to do so...

Yeah... once my mate and myself were eating at a table next to a couple like that.... and the lady started talking to us and we were talking back, just friendly chit chat and the guy she was with was getting really annoyed.... he looked as mad as a cut snake!
