if you moved into the apt./rental and the appliances were already there and broke or something then yes its the landlords responsibility but if you when you moved in there were no appliances and appliances were'nt promised to you then no its same with the furniture....I would check local laws though

If the property was advertised as including appliances, yes. If you were living in a place that had appliances and one of them broke down it is the landlords responsibility to replace it or repair it.

I don't know about Portland ,Oregon ,but in Portland Me, the rent both ways, Most apartments come furnished but places like Condo do not . If you can afford $1,200to $2,500 a month rent you can afford your own appliances..

what does the lease agreement say? If it isn't spelled out in the lease and you don't have an ancillary agreement on the matter, no, the landlard is not required to provide appliances
