There is a possibility that the jets are blocked, easy fix with a small needle, that is if your cooker strips down for cleaning like older ones do. If there are any joints requiring tools then in the uk it is now illegal and a corgi registered gas engineer has to do the job, you don't say if the problem is no gas comming out or ignition problem.

Gas pressure may be a problem however I think tha it may be a blockage at or near to the hob itself. I take it you've checked for a leak and dismissed that as a problem, so i would dismantle the hob and use pipe cleaners or something similar and give the whole thing a good scrub.

you dont need to call a corgi registered gas plumber as your not playing with the main gas inlet and your not connecting any gas pipes..

The hobs should have little raised buts in the center, these should just pull off, soak them in hot water and washing liquid to remove any grease from cooking and inspect the recess in the hob that it left, make sure there isnt any lumps of food in there and if there is remove them.

Dry the pieces that are in the water and replace them in the order you took them off, then put the gas on low and try to ignite each burner separatly, if they work then problem solved.

If its still not working, it might be worth ringing a gas engineer, he doesnt have to be corgi registered as he will not be inspecting or connecting any main feed from the gas mains, that has obviously already been done.

Most probably Blocked gas jets. If you are able to Get the burners off the cooker. you will find a brass gas je. try poking them through with a vey small needle or fuse wire. If this doesn't do the trick, then clean the ports on the burners.

Check that they are not blocked - take all the parts off and clean - and also see if the ignition is not working - try to light with a match. Mine won't work if they are used for too long without cleaning - hope that helps. If you can smell gas, call transco immediately.

PLEASE PLEASE don't take it apart, clean around it yes, but don't mess with the insides of it. If it is clogged from cleaning it would only be from around the outside rim of it anyway, so lift the lid thing that comes of easily and clean it there.

Try the match thing though it could be the ignition spark thing that doesn't work, and if that don't work then call your gas company they might be able to send someone to have a look at it free, depends on which company you use though :)

Don't blow yourself up! That would be horrid.

Get a Corgi registered gas person to have a look - or you can telephone British Gas helpline who will assist you.

so, when you turn them nothing happens, but the nob keeps spinning? A good hardware store or appliance store should have a large selection of replacement knobs. Don't forget to take your old knob with you to the store as well as writing down the make and model of the stove.
