In a heartbeat, if I had to take care of my kids.
I'd do anything for them--sell my body or steal or, if it came down to it, I'd even bump someone off to feed them if they were starving.
If it were just me, well, I probably wouldn't go to such extremes, but it's really difficult to know, isn't it?
And for those talking about shelters and such, remember, we don't all live in countries with those things, so think outside the box...

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Survival vs. Character. It seems that was a Biblical scenario that just did not work out well for the guy who voted for survival. I'm going to have to say, "no deal". I won't break the law. Final answer.

If there were no other possible options -- you bet.
There are rarely no other possible options, however...just people failing to *find* available options.
If things were really that bad, I'd probably "dine-n-dash" -- go to someplace like Denny's, have a meal, pretend to go to the bathroom, then take off without paying. I wouldn't feel good about it, but if it got me through a few more days so I could find a job, I could justify it. I'd also go back and pay them back later when I had the money :)

I would probably just steal a loaf of bread or something because if I go to jail for it I least get food and I think it's ok to steal food if you're starving and you haven't eatin since like a week ago.

I would mostl likely steal food in order to survive but only as a last resort. I wouldn't hesitate at all if my kids were hungry.

Possibly. Well the why was established in your question...I am dirt poor and hungry. How I am not sure, but pan handling comes to mind.

Of course. I might break the law even if I was rich and full! I might indulge in illegal substances. Maybe.
