He lied under oath. He was being investigated by the special prosecutor for his role in Whitewater. When it became evident he couldn't be tried as the president for a crime he committed prior to being put into office the SP followed up other leads he uncovered during the investigation concerning sexual abuse of his employees as Governor. That led to interviews with his White House staff and that uncovered Monica's cigar and dress.

Bill lied under oath and for that offense, which as a lawyer he understood the consequences of, he was impeached.

It was largely a political witch hunt since any conceivable laws broken (some say perjury in a deposition in a civil law suit about a private sexual matter) were NOT in the performance of official duty or matters of state. By contrast Dictator Dumbya is probably guilty of hundreds if not thousands of Federal crimes in the conduct of the office he NEVER earned in the first place. Impeach, convict and imprison Dictator Dumbya!!!

while being investigated by special prosecutor K. Starr on his involvement with the S&L debacakle (and was found to have NOT committed a crime), Starr asked if he was having an affair. What this had to do with S&L has never been made clear.
So yea, Bill lied. Like any other guy would lie.
At least when Bill lied, no one died. Unlike the present lying sack-o-****, who most likely new full well the real facts about Iraq, and still took the country to war.

Bill Clinton lied about getting his knob polished, so Republicans wanted him Impeached. But George Bush can start a War for his own personal gain and that's ok.

"In 1998, as a result of allegations that he had lied during grand jury testimony regarding his sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky, a young female White House intern, Clinton was the second U.S. president to be impeached by the House of Representatives."

He lied to a grand jury during the Lewinsky scandel.

He was ACCUSED of obstruction of justice related to the Monica situation.

He was ACQUITTED in a trial in the senate.

Articles of impeachment are the same as an indictment, not a conviction.

He committed perjury during a federal hearing. Of course, he would've never done so if they hadn't held a federal hearing about a head job, but that's the American government machine for you!
