There are many problems with colonialization of other worlds.

Where do we get liquid water? This is an essential need of human life. No water means you will die very quickly. Liquid water is fairly rare within our solar system, in fact, I believe that Earth is the only known body that acutally has liquid water on the surface.

Where do we get oxygen? The Earth's atmosphere has just the right amount of oxygen to support human life. Such an atmosphere is unique in our solar system.

What would changes in gravitational force do to the human body? We know many human processes rely on gravity to a certain extent to work properly. We also know that the absence of gravity (free fall) is not good for human health.

How would we cope with harmful weather conditions? Most planets do not have the relatively stable temperatures ours does. Most are extremely hot, like Venus, or very cold, like Saturn or Neptune. Extreme temperature and weather conditions would limit what we could do.

I personally think it will be a very long time, at least one hundred years, before we begin to solve some of these issues and actually begin to think about going to other planets.

Also the planet would have to have a magnetic field around it, like ours, to keep out the suns harmful rays from frying everything.
