Please! Keep all plastic away from him. The damage it can do is unbelievable if he swallows it.
Try paper towel cores or toilet paper cores. They make wood chew toys for caged animals, you can get him a few of those too. Put an empty oat meal container in with him, they like to hide in them and chew on them. They really don't 'eat' them, only chew and spit it out usually.

The question should be "why is your Guinea Pig close enough to get it's mouth on plastic grocery bags????? I wouldn't think it would be good for it to eat them OR swallow it. PLEASE, KEEP THOSE BAGS AWAY FROM YOUR GUINEA PIG - IT COULD KILL IT. It might smell or taste something that was in the bag previously - you might have had bananas in there from a previous purchase and it smell's the bananas - don't forget animals have a much better sense of smell than we do.

Because he is a pig, pigs do not have any morals or respect they roll around in mud all day, What do you expect for him to do? Did he atleast use a bib? OINK!
