At University we often have to sit through those crazy things called lectures. My question is do you prefer the presenter (lecturer) to use an Over Head Projector (OHP- a big lamp that focuses clear plastic sheets with text onto a plain background) or do you prefer them to use Powerpoint? If you do prefer one or the other, why?

As I have actually used both methods for presentations myself I would prefer Powerpoint. Having also sat through both methods of presentations I again would say I prefer Powerpoint. As Powerpoint is definately more pleasing to the eye, makes the presentation on the whole more interesting and so keeping the audience full attention.

without a doubt - Powerpoint. As long as there arnt a ton of distractors [ie sound effects and background pictures]

Powerpoint is so versatile and allows for a broader lesson plan. You can input pictures and video clips on powerpoint as apposed to overheads.

Its easier on the Instructor as well. instead of lugging around an entire days worth of transparent's - all they have to do is carry their flash drive with the days powerpoints on it and plug it into the computer.

Overhead still reigns supreme in Mathematics though. there is no better way that I have seen to teach math to the masses than by an overhead.

Definitely PowerPoint. You can create links to quizzes etc and make the topic so much more interesting therfore keeping learners AWAKE. Can also be posted onto the intranet or somewhere for learners to access, or e-mailed to them, which is brilliant if you've missed a session.

Think that SMARTBOARDS are even better still, because you can use these as interactive tools to keep learners involved in the learning of the topic.

I think the question is " Which one is a better dancer a statue (OHP) or a real dancer (PowerPoint) ? The PowerPoint adds life to the material you are presenting.

There are 2 video aspects of your request. you'll elect to have 2 classes operating concurrently: PowerPoint and yet another with video of your self. you should use photo sales area (comes with Mac OS X and is on your applications folder) for the video of your self. also elect a exhibit screen seize software that enables you to elect portion of your exhibit screen. Ambrosia software's SnapZPro is ultimate for this purpose. you may want to latest your presentation in a window rather of finished exhibit screen. In PowerPoint's Slide tutor menu elect set up tutor. contained in the tutor form of the Slide tutor communication elect Browsed through a man or woman (Window). Now, once you play your slide tutor that's going to likely be in a in window rather of finished exhibit screen. Make a outstanding historic past and then position the slide tutor window and the photo sales area window. turn on SnapZPro and decide action picture (comprise audio song). elect the realm of your exhibit screen that has both the presentation playing and the photo sales area window. powerpoint. definetely!!! usually easier to see. it doesn't matter where i sit the OHP will be clearer to some and for others it will be fuzzy. and then the lecturer wastes time adjusting it. and also ppt because you can get notes easier during the lecture and after the lecture in case u missed it

If the content is static, then Powepoint is preferable and usually takes up less preparation time and material, but I think a good lecturer in a well-structured, planned and interactive class can make good use of either.

PowerPoint AS LONG AS ITS KEPT SIMPLE. Some people do PowerPoint & use loads of colours / backgrounds / animations / sounds etc & it always looks rubbish. Best to keep it simple & with as few slides with as few words on them as possible.

ofcource power point can be uesd for giving lectures but you canot say it exactly lectures .the reason is that it has its own data base trough which it presents it presentatios about the topic which you specified in the bigning of making a presentation while it is for me a best source of giving lecture to other persons because due to its beautiful presentations people understand the ideas quickly and also it helps the lecturar to manage his time during giving lecture
