Yes, (just remember that you only want to run one antivirus program in your system to avoid conflict). You can run two or three antispyware.

There is an excellent free antivirus program from http://www.avast.com They will require you to fill out a small form, as the free home version and the paid version both require a registration key. They will send you the key via the email address you give them and the key is good for one year with the free version. After one year you must renew.

If you want to pay money then you can download what I use and the Government of China uses.

Being a clinical psychiatrist I have a moral and legal obligation to keep my pc 100% clean from all virus/spyware/malware.

I tested every free and purchase antivirus system known. An I found only one that actually works 100%. Never had a virus or spyware in my system in nine years.

Go to, www.filseclab.com and download thier Twister AntiTrojan Virus program. (You will have to pay a small one time fee). You will never have to pay an annual fee for updates, support or new versions. The one time fee is for life. ($29.99)

The software company is located in Beijing, China. They have excellent support, frequent large signature updates an as always all new versions are free. No annual fee for anything.

Comes with a real time scanner that really works. Actually I am quite amazed over the nine years how well it works.

Scans memory on startup.
Real time scanning in the background.
Open any webpage with an embedded trojan/spyware or malware and scanner will clean on the spot. An It is really removed from your system.

Download any kind of program from zips, all compressed files, software files, music, etc, etc, an if there is a hidden embedded trojan, spyware, malware, this program will stop the download and clean. An will advise you to end the download.

Will even find a virus in the installer wizard, like "Wise Installer". And will stop the installation while it is being installed and clean. Plus this program always will trace back who installed the trojan.

I had a trojan in and wizard installer. Twister caught the trojan and stopped the installation. I wrote the origianl company and told them the wizard installer had an embedded trojan to steal your data. The company now uses thier own installer.

You can't beat this software for a one time purchase fee only. Actually I don't know of any antivirus progam that even comes close to this state of the art technology.

All I can say it is worth the one time fee. Your pc cost alot of money and you don't want it destroyed. Plus your privacy is protected at all times.

There is nothing in it for me to praise this program. I tell it like it is. If it is garbage then I will say so.

(Only use one antivirus program to avoid conflict). Plus save your download to documents or some other place on your system.. Then remove your existing antivirus program. This way you will be protected while on the internet downloading the program of your choice.

Download load from http://www.superantispyware.com This is a free excellent antspyware program that scans your memory, registry, files/folders and favorites. Scans all 174,000 objects I have on my pc always finds spyware that all other programs miss.

Or you can download from http://www.ewido.net their antispyware program that is not free. Will become free after thirty days if you don't purchase. They only remove the guard from the tray, something you don't need and the auto. updates. You will update on a manual basis. (Usually updates have been every hour on the hour). This program scan all 174,000 object in my system.

Or you can download from http://www.emsisoft.com Their free A2Squared malware program. They will ask you to fill out a small form as they will send you a regristration key via email. Bot the free and the paid require a registration key. You will place your email address you used and the code they sent you. Wait while their computers verify the code & address. When you have verification, will say "Go With Gods Speed", and you continue with the installation. This program scan all 174,000 of my objects.

I am on ADSL, if you are on dialup the last program is excellent to prevent rogue dialers. Otherwise all of the above three are excellent free spyware programs.

When you download, "Save", to your documents, and then remove the existing spyware program. So that you will have protection while you are on the internet obtaining one of the above programs.

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C

First open CCleaner
Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.
To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:
Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.
Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.
afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.
The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.
If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)
The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).
Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.
Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

CCleaner is basically a dedicated cleaner which cleans the unwanted files in your computer...for eg. when you download or open any file or site, at many places it is registered in your computer that is not needed by the computer to work.....its a wonderful software that frees unwanted space...
Norton is basically a dedicated anti-virus.....
I sugess to still install CCleaner

You can find a free download of ccleaner here http://bit.ly/1sJimp9

Comodo Antivirus
Outpost Firewall Pro
CounterSpy
XoftSpy
AdAware

This is my current mix of protection. It works very good. I do not run CounterSpy in the background because it is a memory and resource hog, but it is an excellent tool for finding installed Trojans.

Yes you can. You should unistall the old one first because the new virus software will see the virus definitions in the old one and flag them as viruses.
